When God created everything – He gave man dominion – the responsibility to rule the earth. Everything still belonged to God, but man was supposed to manage it. We were unfaithful in our task. Because of sin, unfaithfulness increased in the earth and is still increasing. All the problems we are experiencing in the world are because of unfaithfulness.
We can change that. We can start being faithful in small things. Recognizing that all we have – our ministries, our families, our businesses, our lives – belong to God – we are called to faithfully manage these things.
Jesus reinstated our authority through His death and resurrection. But we still have to manage faithfully.
It’s our choice – will we be faithful or dishonest?
“One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.” Luke 16:10
We need to breathe to live, but if you only ever take in oxygen and don’t expel carbon dioxide, you will die. It’s not healthy to only take in, and not give out – inhaling and exhaling shows that you are alive! In our very design God is showing us that we were created to receive and then give out.
We receive so many blessings from the Lord, but if we just hold on to them and we don’t bless others in return – we will be unhealthy.
Freely you received, freely give. Matthew 10:8
