Our Plans and God’s Plans

“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19:21
“The only gleam of hope, and I cannot underrate it, is from confidence in God. When I look upward it calms any apprehension for the future, and I seem to hear a voice saying: ‘If I clothe the lilies of the field, shall I not also clothe you?’ Here is my strong confidence, and I will wait patiently for the direction of Providence.” Morse went on to create several other inventions and can be recognized today as the father of faxes, modems, e-mail, the internet and other electronic communication. – Samuel Morse
God’s plans may not always seem to follow our natural inclination. Perhaps God has you taking a path that may not lead to His ultimate destination for now. Look at Abraham-God promised him to be the father of nations while having no child of his own but he became, Moses who struggled with stammering to speak to Pharaoh and lead the people of Israelites out of slavery, Joseph, David, The Cross of Christ and so on. Ultimately, it is His plan that will prevail no matter how hard we try our way. Therefore, surrender is the beginning of getting closer to his plan. Looking at the Cross of Christ will empower to surrender and enable to follow his way. All the work has been finished on the Cross and has opened the way for us to walk in his ways. Therefore, our striving, trying hard to walk in his way is not going to work. Surrender is the key to enter to his plans.
Trust in the Lord, lean not on your own understanding, acknowledge Him in all you do, and He shall direct your path (Prov. 3:5-6).
May the good Lord help us lead and live a life of surrender daily.
