We are a vibrant, Spirit-filled, Christ-Centered diverse congregation who follows and shares the love of Jesus with all.
Our Brief History
Soon after the marriage, Lamas felt the gentle nudge in their heart to move out of Mumbai, a place where they had comfortably settled, to risk what all they had for the cause of the Gospel.
In the year 2010, during a prophetic seminar while praying for the Lamas, a vision of snow and mountains was given to the prophetic praying team. In the following months, two pilot surveys in Kathmandu, Nepal were done to check the need for an English-speaking fellowship. In the second survey trip, they shared their vision for urban ministry with the local pastors and the missionaries. Their vision was commended and they were welcomed to initiate their ministry. In 2011, they were sent prayerfully to Kathmandu, Nepal from their mother church, Bombay Baptist Church. They did several prayer walks around Thamel and Lazimpat and involved themselves in building relationships. They also shortly started Bible study at home and over the time organized mini concerts, gigs and seminars presided over by teams coming from Mumbai.
In March 2012, Kathmandu International Fellowship was birthed in the living room of the Lamas. We continued to meet there for fellowship at 3-5 pm every Saturday for about a year. Kathmandu International Christian Congregation(KICC) was instrumental in making this happen who understood the vision of KIF and joined hands in the mission. We knew we would need a bigger space as we grew in number. To answer our prayers, God provided us with a space in a cafe and we soon after shifted to Bluenote Cafe, Lazimpat in September 2013. A core team was formed to plan and strategize the growth and direction of the church.
Right from the start of KIF, we’ve had a heart for the centre of the town, Thamel. In 2014, God in His sovereignty provided us a space in Thamel through a believer family who was kind enough to allow us to use the terrace of their restaurant where we constructed a hall that could fit around 50 people. We continued to meet there until the end of the covid lockdown. On May 28th, 2022 we moved to a bigger hall in Jyatha, Thamel where we are currently based.
We thank God who has been faithful in every season and has been taking us toward the promised land.
